This is the Slap My Wallet list of the top things never to buy cheap. So why would a site that's dedicated to creativity and personal finance publish a list of things never to buy cheap? Well, sometimes you get what you a pay for...

20. Shoes
We think the old adage, "Take care of your feet and your feet will take care of you" still holds true.

19. Paint
There's not much that's funny we can say about paint. It's paint. However, we will let you know that the better stuff will go on faster, cover better and save you time.

18. Trash Bags
Just imagine the nice mix of filth that's in your trash bag. Now imagine picking it up off the floor.

17. Restaurant Servers
That's right, when you sat down to eat you bought the food and the service. You might not like it. You might not think it's fair. Regardless, if you eat at a restaurant in America a 15-20% tip for good service is customary, and you know it.

16. Jeans
When you consider how often you wear a pair of jeans I think it's worth spending a little more for a pair that looks good and fits well.

15. Macaroni & Cheese
Behold there is a difference, and that difference that is worth 50¢.

14. Your Health
As in, don't be cheap and wait for problems to become worse before you go and do something about it. Take care of yourself.

13. Helmets
This one is a no-brainer... a no-brainer.
Quite possible the worst joke I've ever written.

12. Your Mattress
Like the salesperson will tell you, "You spend a third of your life in bed".

11. Suntan Lotion
I've used cheap suntan lotion before, and I've gotten burned. Maybe it was that one bottle that sat on the shelf too long. Doesn't matter. It's not worth the risk.So you are half way through the Slap My Wallet list of Top Things Never to Buy Cheap. If this was a television show we'd take a commercial break now. And when we got back we'd repeat the last three things on our list in case you forgot.

10. Your Education
Short changing your education is about the worst mistake a person can make. You just might end up writing a blog.

9. Plastic Surgery
This isn't the time for coupon clipping.

8. An Engagement Ring
Your significant other will hopefully wear it for the rest of their life. You want to give a symbol of your love, not a symbol of your 'thriftiness'.

7. Tattoos
Obvious advice that's often not followed.

6. A Suit for a Job Interview
Seriously, if you can't afford a decent suit for an interview borrow one. A cheap suit screams, "I don't know any better than to wear this cheap suit".

5. Parachutes
This is a mistake that you only make once.
Runner up: rock climbing equipment.

4. Eye Glasses
For the simple reason that they go on your face. If you can't see so good maybe you should bring someone with you to help pick them out.

3. Toilet Paper
You can argue with this, but you'd be wrong.

2. Mother's Day Presents
Come on titewad. It's your mom. Get her something that is not sold at a convenience store.

1. Sushi
If it's on sale there is a reason, and that reason will haunt your stomach like a banshee for the rest of the night.

So that was the Slap My Wallet list of the top things never to buy cheap. Maybe you agree or disagree or have something you'd like to add to the list. We encourage you to leave a comment and let us know.

Please note: We aren't advocating that you must pay full price for these things. You can find a good deal on many of these items. However there is a difference between getting a good deal and being cheap.
