Slap My Wallet. What's the point?

Think back to the last great concert you attended. Now imagine yourself at that same concert sitting in the front row. You're seeing every facial expression of the band and hearing every note right off the stage. Isn't that where you want to be? So why aren't you there.

Slap My Wallet is a blog about personal finance. It's purpose is to help you better manage your money and build wealth, but it's more than that. Let me start off by telling you why I decided to start this blog. Then read on to find out what this blog is specifically about and what it's not about.

I'm a creative, right-brained person. In fact the word 'creative' was in the title of my job for the last ten years. I was living in New York City and making a great salary working in advertising. After a few years I realized that I was spending most of my paycheck each week and I wasn't improving my situation. I was jealous of friends who we're buying houses even though they made less money than I did. So I began reading books about personal finance, investing, real estate and wealth. Using the strategies I learned in those books I was able to pay off my credit card debt, save some money, and purchase my first home, a three-story colonial. I was able to do all that while still taking regular vacations, eating at great restaurants, and not changing my lifestyle that much.

The trick was applying the sound financial strategies I learned in those books. However, drudging through those books was not fun. Even though the concepts they presented were simple, a lot of the copy was dry and analytical. It certainly wasn't creative. So I made a goal to present those ideas in a way that is both creative and right-brained. That is what Slap My Wallet is all about.

Slap My Wallet not about getting rich quick. It's about proven strategies for managing your money and gaining wealth over time, just presented in a new, fresh way. It's based on sound financial principles. It's about giving you the tools to generate wealth. Going further it's also about being part of a web community where people can build on those ideas by presenting their own experiences.

Slap My Wallet is designed for people who probably aren't that into money, but simply want live their life in the best way they can imagine. I hope that you enjoy what you learn here. Good Luck!
